The Day of Love

For me, every Valentine's Day something has been off in the dating department.

In high school, the only male who was ever interested on Valentine's day (or ever, really, for that matter) was whichever fictional character Whitney Durtschi decided to put down as the sender of the candy gram she sent me during class. Usually it was Mr. Darcy from Pride and Prejudice.
My first Valentine's Day at BYU was spent with a guy I'm pretty sure is actually a homosexual.
My junior year I had to break up with the guy I had been seeing on Valentine's Day (I'm a terrible person, I know.)
My last Valentine's Day at BYU the closest thing I had to love was my infatuation with my Spanish teacher, who I'm pretty sure thought I was a creep.

This year though, you could say things were a bit different.

I woke up and left my apartment around 8AM to go watch oral arguments at the Court of Appeals downtown, and was completely surprised when I saw this waiting for me in the parking lot of my apartment complex:
So cute, right?

And then, as if that wasn't cute enough, Mr. 31 surprised me at night time with more flowers and a hot date at the Melting Pot. I swear, I must have done something right in my life because let me tell you folks, this one's a real catch.
And don't worry, thanks to some posters, tons of candy, a deck of cards, Color Me Mine, and Pinterest, Mr. 31 got his share of love too.

So here's to Valentine's Day, here's to those who make us feel loved and happy even when it's not Valentine's Day, and here's to the fact that good things really do come to those who wait. Cheers.
