The Highlight of My Summer

"I would be more than happy to write you a letter of recommendation. I like to personalize my letters and make them very extern-specific, so I'll write one and go over it with you. Normally I will only include the good stuff--you know, we'll wanna leave out any 'warts.' But with you, we don't have any of that. You have done a really good job. You know, you could easily fill one of these positions if we had any openings. And these people--they started doing this job after practicing for years. But we don't have any vacancies...You've done a good job."

Most days, I don't hear from Justice Boren.
Most days, I submit an opinion and get an "Ok, so just hand that over to my assistant. Now, let's see what we have next on calendar..."
Most days, I sit in my carrell and stress over one thing after another (Yeah, I know, I need a life.)
But today, after I was called into chambers to go over orders and to discuss the last day of my externship, I heard this.
And while I hate "pat me on the head" blog posts (Yeah, I know, go ahead and scream "hypocrisy!"), I need just one exception, so that I can memorialize this moment.
Because let me tell you, this moment feels so. freaking. good.
